🥵 Spilling Jurassic-Sized BTS Secrets

What would you say to your 2016 self?

“We are sooooo back,” I whisper at my blue light-emitting brick, while I alternate through videos of Shawn Mendes performing at Sziget, Tom Holland dressed as Spiderman filming Brand New Day in Glasgow and people talking about To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Next, I predict a resurgence of Snapchat dog filter photos, a Vine comeback and a new obsession with a game just like Pokémon Go.

This is how I felt writing the first paragraph.

It’s a bloody good time to be a nostalgic fan (of just about anything), because we are getting FED with set photos, reunions and collaborations — left right and centre. If your fandom hasn’t had a whisper of new material yet, I can only imagine that it’s on the way or being planned as you read this. The world wants a glimmer of simpler times and I don’t blame anyone one bit.

[Side note: If anyone with the power to make a one-off reboot of New Girl is consuming this newsletter, let’s talk. Please.]

However, before we all try and jump into a time machine in an attempt to resurrect 2016, let me fill you in on a few things happening around the grounds in BuzzFeedOz land.

We’ve explored the haunts of Wednesday Island to ask Tim Burton about his own misfit adventures, braved the dinosaurs to explore the behind the scenes of making Jurassic World Rebirth and doomscrolled with Spice Girls’ Melanie C to get to know her better. And most importantly, our two favourite BF OGs have been hard at work recording a new podcast called Office Hours With Sohan and Hameda, to help you thrive and survive your 9 to 5. It’s all very exciting stuff.

Can’t wait to chat to you next week <3.

Laters,

Q: What year did Pokémon first start airing on Toasted TV?

I look at you through the train doors every morning. You know the ones that are between the carriages? Yeah those. You’re always sitting there and I never know if you can tell that I’m staring. But I am.

Where do you get on? What’s your name? I have so many questions.

Just know, that the first time I noticed you, your hair was in curls and you were wearing a brown off-the-shoulder top with the prettiest blush on your cheeks. One of your nails was blue, in an almond shape. I remember that day so vividly.

“Am I overstepping boundaries? Have I gone too far?”

This was about a coworker winning a competition and another person in the office begging them to bring them along. You want to go to Japan with your coworker? Interesting…

I think if you ever have to ask anyone those questions, you need to reel it back. I don’t care if it’s in love, work, family or friends — if you have doubts, you need to reevaluate.
